I am currently a P/T postgraduate on MA Art In Public. Graduated 2010 BA Fine and Applied Art, First Class, University of Ulster Belfast.
Memory is central to Burns’ work, in concept, research and innovative processes. Work in progress, “Memory Experiment #1″ this work examines the process of memory, realising this as a visual artwork that resides between Art and the Ethnographic. This quote holds some significance for her work,
“art can function as a critique of existing culture and as a locus where futures not otherwise possible can begin to shape themselves” Susan Hiller
To realise an artwork that shows the ‘slippage’ of memory, and to realise an artwork that may have the capacity to ‘mediate and modify” barriers or boundaries in a post conflict society, therefore making some change to the political, social and cultural barriers we have in Northern Ireland.
