Renowned writer and filmmaker John McIlduff shared trade secrets in a unique two day master class in film production. The workshop was a great success and gave many people the chance to get insight in filmmaking. This very special two days involved John using his own practice to inform the workshops and enable participants to create their own script.
A graduate L’École de Theatre Jacques Lecoq, John has worked throughout Europe directing productions including an adaptation of Dostoyevsky’s ‘Crime and Punishment’, a French language version of ‘A Streetcar named Desire’ and the hugely successful Italian production, ‘Mucche Ballerine’.
He was recently commissioned by the Cultural Olympiad to work on the NEST project, which invites the people of Northern Ireland to create art on a massive scale through the act of donating an object. NEST will become the focal point for a large-scale music and choral event in 2012, composed, written and directed by John along with composer Brian Irvine, the other lead artist in Dumbworld, a creative production company established in early 2009.
