Residency with Hope Azeda

During Hope Azeda, of Mashirika Creative and Performing Arts (Kigali) ’s one month residency at The Playhouse organized by The International Culture Arts Network ICAN and SEEDS (Solidarity Equality Education Diversity Support) she created a platform enabling local people to explore diversity and difference.

The aim of the residency was to provide individuals, local facilitators and community workers with practical performing arts skills that can be used to promote community integration.

Hope Azeda is a leading founder member of Mashirika Creative and Performing Arts (Kigali) one of Rwanda’s major theatre companies. Last week to mark the 17th commemoration of the Rwandan genocide Mashirika performed a 15 minute peace of theatre and dance ‘Echos of Peace’ for over 40,000 people.
